Meet Our Team

Ronnell “Ron” Massengill is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of United Community Wellness, a community-based organization dedicated to improving access to behavioral health, wellness, and supportive services for individuals and families throughout Northeast Ohio.

Ron currently serves as an Akron Police Officer, where he has dedicated the past five years to public service and community engagement. He is a Crisis and SWAT Negotiator, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer, Peer Support Officer, and Shift Representative. Throughout his law enforcement career, he has focused on building trust, strengthening community relationships, and connecting individuals in crisis with the resources and support they need.

Prior to joining the Akron Police Department, Ron proudly served eight years in the United States Army Reserve as a 25U Signal Support Systems Specialist. His military experience helped shape his leadership philosophy, commitment to service, and ability to perform under pressure.

United Community Wellness was founded following tragedies that hit close to home and through Ron's firsthand exposure to the challenges, trauma, and unmet needs affecting individuals and families throughout the community. Recognizing that many people struggle to access quality mental health services, supportive programs, and wellness resources, he established the organization to bridge those gaps and create meaningful pathways to healing, growth, and stability.

In addition to his work in law enforcement and behavioral health, Ron has been recognized for his commitment to youth development, community outreach, crisis intervention, and collaborative partnerships. In 2023, he received the Cornelius Award from Providence Baptist Church in recognition of his dedicated service to the community. Through United Community Wellness, he works alongside local agencies, schools, first responders, healthcare providers, and community leaders to develop innovative programs that promote mental wellness, reduce barriers to care, and strengthen communities.

Ron remains committed to serving others through leadership, advocacy, and action — believing that lasting change happens when communities come together to support one another.
